Estancia boys soccer played against Marina High School on November 30, at Estancia’s Jim Scott Stadium. The bleachers were empty but by the second half they filled to watch Estancia win 3-2. Aside from a goal by junior, Marco Arreola a few minutes into the game, it was a defensive struggle throughout the first half. Arreola’s goal was first in question but was finally allowed.
The game began to get intense during the second half when Marina High School scored their first goal tying it up 1-1. Marina went up 2-1 on another score until Arreola scored his second of the game. “I always feel like I need to prove myself to the school because I have such a high standard for what I can do.”
For most of the second half the score remained 2-2 with each team having scoring chances. Senior goalkeeper, Victor Jacinto blocked numerous shots from the Viking attack. Jacinto said, “I had to stay focused and be ready at any time.”
Minutes before the game ended a rebounded ball hit one of Marina’s players, scoring for Estancia and put them in the lead for good putting them in the lead
Estancia won 3-2 and will play again on December 14 against Saddleback High School.
